At Pacific Zen Institute you have the opportunity to work with a teacher one-on-one. This is one of the ways to go deeper into your meditation and koan practice. Working with a teacher is part of an active engagement with meditation and koans and with your own life and transformation. Occasional practice conversations are available to anyone, donations are welcome.
If you want to work with a teacher in an ongoing way, we ask that you become a member of Pacific Zen Institute and have a regular meditation practice. Individual support of the teacher, whenever possible, is beneficial (more on donations here), as is a connection to the PZI community through some kind of volunteer work for the organization. This can be as simple as helping serve tea on a Monday night, or include working on retreats or outreach. Your teacher can help you connect with these opportunities. Regular work with a teacher is done at the agreement of both the student and the teacher.
