Rachel Boughton, Roshi is the director of the Santa Rosa Creek Zen Center. She’s been been teaching meditation almost ever since she learned it, when she was 15 years old. “At that time I was looking for an adventure story to model a possible life on, and I stumbled on a book that suggested that meditation and a spiritual quest might be the adventure I was looking for. I sent away for instructions. Now, 30 years later I’m still following them.”
Rachel is an artist (sculpture, drawing) and a mother of almost grown children. She enjoys working with people to discover what meditation and koans are in their own lives. She has been studying Jungian psychology in Switzerland because she noticed the way koans and the transformation that shows up in Zen practice seem to show up in people’s dreams.
Rachel works with people individually by email, by phone, and in person at the Zen Center on Thursdays from 9:30 to 5:30. You can reach her by email at if you would like to make an appointment to have a conversation about your own meditation practice and how it fits into your life.
