Koan: As I cross the stream, the bridge flows, the water is still.
I like this koan because initially I found it so confusing. I wanted to understand it, but I seemed to live in a world that was immutably exactly what it was, and bridges and water didn’t trade places with each other. But, after awhile, my confusion about this koan (and others) softened me up: it gave me a better sense of humor about my difficulties, helped me raise my kids, and that sort of thing.
