Koan: A student asked, “What is the ultimate unchanging body of reality?” The teacher answered, “It moved!”
Water moves around a lot. The average water molecule will stay in the air for about 9 days. In a large lake, maybe 100 years. In a deep underground aquifer, it will be around perhaps 1000 years. It runs through the stone shelves in the ocean in 8 million years and it remains part of the earth’s crust for about 100 million years, participating materially in volcanic eruptions when it leaves. Everything moves. What is unchanging for you? What moves?
Come and sit still, meditate, watch the way everything moves. We’ll do that together.
