Once upon a time, there was a great master and poet called Yunmen which means Cloud Gate. Once he said to his assembly,
“I’m not asking you about before the full moon, what about after the full moon?”
He then said, “Every day is a good day.”
‘Every day is a good day’ wasn’t aspirational, it was how he saw life. We don’t take half measures, we can have life now. The other thing to notice is that he also thought of this as a discovery, something you saw when the full moon rose in your mind.
Life is uncertain, and there is nothing more crucial in life than having a practice. It’s good to sit together. To come to the Zendo is to offer a commitment to your own life and the goodness of life.
If you can’t come, we are streaming the talk too.
