KOAN: Two friends were washing their bowls in a creek, and they saw two crows fighting over a frog. One friend asked,  “Why does it always have to be like that?” The other friend replied, “It’s only for your benefit, honored one.” – Dongshan

I’m still evacuated from my home, or from where my home used to be, as the Camp Fire burned over the ridge where I live. The CalFire grapevine says my house survived. Under a blue sky I watched from across the canyon as Paradise burned to the ground. Maybe the sky was blue when the two friends watched the crows disassemble the frog. The friends themselves were not torn apart that day, and I was not incinerated in my car, so meditation and conversation are still possible.

Let’s do some of this Monday, while we still are kicking.    Chris

Chris’ talk will be livestreamed on Youtube in case you are far away and want to tune in.
